Review: Sigma F80 – Favorite Foundation Brush

Hey dolls! I’m here with a review this week for the Sigma F80 Foundation Brush. I LOVE THIS BRUSH! It is a flat top synthetic kabuki brush that applies liquid and cream foundations while giving you a flawless and airbrushed look. This brush is part of the Sigmax collection by Sigma Beauty. The brush is vegan and cruelty free since it is made of synthetic bristles.

To apply your cream or liquid foundation, scoop or pour out a small amount of foundation on a palette, plastic plate or even a clean old CD. Dip your brush into the product and blend on your face in circular motions beginning around your nose and working your way out to you hairline and neck. Remember to start with small amounts of product and build up. Follow by setting your foundation with a translucent powder.

I have had my brush for over 2 years and I am still in love with it. I have had some shedding lately, so I guess it is time for a new brush. The brush is only $18!

Sigma Beauty is having a 10% off promotion on all orders during the month of June. Use code SUM2013 at checkout. Click here to go to purchase your Sigma brushes.

Dropkick Murphys concert look

My husband and I went to the Dropkick Murphys 2012 St. Patrick’s Day Tour concert this past Saturday at the Pompano Beach Amphitheater. Since St. Patrick’s Day is a big thing in my family (my hubby is Irish) I decided to go with a smokey green eye shadow for the concert instead of the traditional black smokey eye.

Begin with a clean face and add your moisturizer. Let the moisturizer sink in while you are putting on the eye shadows. I also leave the foundation routine for last since I’m using dark colors that can have some fall out.

To begin your eye look, start by using a primer. For this look I used my MAC Painterly Paintpot. Then I used Pistol in the Naked 2 palette from Urban Decay all over the lid with a Sigma E55 shader brush. Follow by taking a dark black liner, for this look I used Perversion by Urban Decay to line my top lash line, creating an extended cat liner towards the outer corner of my brows, ½ way between my crease and my brow bone. Using Urban Decay’s Blackout shadow from the Naked 2 palette and a Sigma E25 blending brush, smoke out the liner. Place a bright green shadow, this one from the Coastal Scents 120 Palette, 1st Edition, on the top edge of the black shadow making sure to blend the green and the black together, while still getting the green color on top of the black using a Sigma E30 pencil brush. Using the Sigma E25 blending brush without adding anymore color, blend the outer corner into your crease. To highlight the brow, I used Sigma’s E70 angled shader brush and MAC’s Vanilla on my brow bone making sure to blend the black and grey shadows so there was no definitive line.  Line your top and bottom waterline with the Urban Decay pencil in Perversion, follow by smoking out the bottom lash line ¾ of the way in using a Sigma E20 short shader brush and Urban Decay’s Blackout shadow. Using the same E20 brush place the bright green shadow on top of the black shadow, use a lighter green shadow on the inner corner of the lower lash line.  Complete the look by putting on 2 coats of a very black mascara, I used the Loreal Voluminous mascara in Very Black. You can opt out on the false lashes, but since this was for a night out, I used Andrea Lashes in #61 and the black Duo lash glue.

Clean up any fall out and put on your face primer, I’m using the Smashbox BB cream in light. Followed by Revlon ColorStay Foundation for Combination/Oily Skin in 200 Nude using the Sigma F80 flat top kabuki brush. Using a Sigma P82 precision round brush and Eve Pearl Salmon Concealer in Light, highlight the undereye area.  Highlight the tops of the cheekbones with the Nars Orgasm Illuminator and a Sigma F55 small duo fibre brush, contour the cheekbones with a Sigma F05 small contour brush and Nars Laguna powder. Make sure to only contour and highlight from your hair line to the outer corner of your eyes. For blush I used Nars Orgasm and a Sigma F10 blush brush. To set my foundation in my T-zone I used MAC’s Mineralized Skinfinish Natural in Light with a Sigma F30 large powder brush.

For my lips I wanted a pink look to compliment the green eyeshadow. I used Nars lipgloss in Angelika.

Finish off your entire look by spritzing on some of Urban Decay’s All Nighter spray to keep your makeup looking fresh all evening.

Welcome to by Beauty Blog…

Welcome to Jen Murray’s beauty blog. I know there are thousands of beauty blogs out there, but I wanted to start my own to share my opinion on products that I have used or am currently using. I also wanted to share tips and tricks for makeup looks, ways that I have found help me get things done during my early morning rush.

I am making the commitment to post at least 2 blogs a week, either a makeup look “tutorial”, a quick tip, or a review/swatches of a new product.

Please leave me your comments or requests for makeup looks and I will try my best to answer you or write a post about your specific questions and requests.
